The layer chicken cage

There are currently light cages designed for light laying hens (Hyline white hens, Dicca white hens) and medium cages for medium laying hens (Hyline brown hens, Isha brown hens), mostly comprising three full or half steps.

(1) Cage frame: provides the foundational support for the cage body, including a beam and diagonal support. These are typically made from angle steel or channel steel, with a thickness between 2.0 and 2.5 mm.

(2) cage body: The chicken cage is made from cold-drawn steel wire, spot welded, galvanized, and assembled, comprising the top net, bottom net, front net, back net, and cage door. Typically, the front net and top net are fused, while the back net and bottom net are also joined, with a separate single net. The cage door forms part of either the front net or the top net, with options for some doors to be removed or flipped. The cage bottom net is angled at 6° to 10°, extending 12 to 16 cm outside the cage to create an egg tray. Cage specifications include a front height of 40 to 45 cm and a depth of around 45 cm, accommodating 3 to 5 chickens per small cage.

Multi-layer coops can promote the health of chickens

Lack of attention to multi-layer coops contributes to poultry farmers not achieving healthy outcomes in chicken raising. These coops are instrumental in supporting chicken health and fostering successful reproduction.

The original multi-level coop wasn't just a setup with a metal mesh floor and standard heating elements. The construction of a high-quality multi-layer chicken coop varies significantly from that of a regular wire cage. Its wire flooring is specifically engineered to facilitate the removal of fecal matter, thereby preventing the accumulation of waste around the chickens and reducing the risk of diseases transmitted through feces. This approach ensures the chickens' well-being and protects the farmers' interests.

Increase egg production

Chickens raised in good health tend to be more productive than those raised in less ideal conditions, and the introduction of enrichment cages can significantly increase egg production potential.

According to recent estimates, around 60 percent of eggs used in products like mayonnaise, sandwiches, and cakes are sourced from caged chickens. This suggests a higher propensity for chickens to lay eggs in cages compared to alternative breeding methods, with multi-layer cages being preferred for optimizing egg production.

Each cage includes a door measuring 650 mm long, 650 mm deep, and 500 mm high, designed to offer a spacious environment for maximum comfort. Each chicken occupies 452 square centimeters of space, and the feeding capacity of each cage reaches 18 birds.

The breeding capacity per three-layer compartment is 54 birds, while each enclosure can house either 72 or 90 birds. A six-floor enclosure typically accommodates 108 birds. The most common configuration involves four layers, with optional multilayer partitions available in configurations like an eight-layer duplex (4 plus 4) or a nine-layer triple (3 plus 3 plus 3), aimed at reducing housing costs and enhancing overall efficiency.
